Lenna’s 5th grade graduation was today. It was freaking PACKED, and some of the parents? Well, y’all I have to tell you - I have seen college graduations with less enthusiastic parents.
Now, I’m all for celebrating your kids’ achievements, but dag, yo. It was FIFTH GRADE. Some applause is cool; whooping and hollering and generally acting a damn fool? Maybe not so much.
Also, Lenna’s principal (Dr. Bitson) kept mispronouncing Lenna’s name. Now, I realize I chose an uncommon name, and I don’t get too pissed when people say it incorrectly the first couple of times. But you have a fucking DOCTORATE and this kid has been in your school for a YEAR? I’m a skosh less patient about you saying “Lee-nuh” instead of “Lehn-uh”. It’s like Jenna, except with an L. Two consonants = short vowel. COME ON NOW.
Ms. Clark (Len’s teacher), OTOH, is FRIGGING RAD. I happen to dig her a lot. I hope all of Lenna’s teachers will be as awesome as Ms. Clark. She’s the reason I’m seriously thinking we should stay right where we are ‘til Tricia is done with 5th grade. Seriously, GREAT TEACHER.
At any rate school is out, and my middlest rat is now in junior high. JUNIOR HIGH. Jesus, God in Heaven, I am old.
